Course Packs

Course Packets are usually used as an addition or supplement to a textbook. Generally they run 50 – 350 pages (no limit) and include articles, homework, lab manuals, old tests, current materials, and out-of-print text. University Copy Center clears all copyrighted material in-house, and captures royalties for copyright holders, authors and departments. Packets can include pages with full color diagrams and photos, and be finished with many binding options. We sell course packets through the University Copy Center store or campus bookstore, or can be produced in phases throughout semester. Also, students can order online through our online store and have their materials delivered to their address.

Custom Publishing

Custom Publishing Texts are developed by professors and used to replace traditional texts. They have an upgraded production value versus Course Packets, and contain color covers, professional perfect or spiral binding and contain full color inserts, pictures and diagrams. Custom texts are published by University Copy Center and assigned an ISBN number. University Copy Center handles all professor royalty payments and clears any copyrights.

Custom Published material is an excellent solution for high enrollment and generally cheaper for students than large publishers (produced and managed locally). They can include copyrighted material and are sold through campus bookstores. Popular uses are as primary class text, lab manuals.

University Copy Center can also gain the rights to out-of-print texts. Professors have successfully used this option when they believe content has not dramatically changed from a previous edition. Call or come by to see some examples of how others utilized this low-cost alternative.

WebNotes: Engineered for professors who utilize Blackboard WebCT

University Copy Center’s WebNotes program is designed to help students better utilize WebCT as a classroom resource. WebCT is a growing course management tool and more course materials are being provided on it. Through research, we have determined that in order to make their material useable, students will print out their on-line materials in one way or another, usually on very expensive ink jet printers, and would like to have the materials pre-printed. Our program, with the permission of the professor, will print and copy the WebCT course materials and make it available for purchase by students in the Copy Center.

This program holds no commitment to the professor or students but merely gives students the option of purchasing their materials based on B&W copies on a per page basis at a rate of 6-7¢. Many professors have found it helpful to have students purchase all their power-point slides with note section in advance, that way all students arrive prepared for class with their materials. The copy center will format the materials double sided, multiple PPT slides per page cutting cost by as much as 50% versus printing at home.

Professors wishing to participate will sign an agreement form, provide the materials to University Copy Center electronically and announce the availability of materials in the first few class sessions and/or note the availability on their WebCT site.

WebNotes can be purchased at the University Copy Center or students can order their notes online through the online Store and having them delivered to their address.
